So, you forgot the sun screen...

June 21, 2018

It’s summer solstice already, and theres no better time to start a blog!

Welcome to Grace Within Oils.

I would like to start by sharing a little recipes with you. I use this after I’ve been swimming at the Lido or in the sea. It’s also perfect if you just want to love your skin.  It's an after sun body cream. So simple and easy to do, it becomes addictive.

As a side note, always seek professional health care advice with regards to skin and serious health issues. If you are unfamiliar with the use and safe application of essential oils, consult an Aromatherapist. The information in this article is for educational purposes only.

1/3 cup of unmelted coconut oil

2 TBSP of Jojoba Oil

2 TBSP of Sweet Almond Oil

1 TSP of Aloe vera gel

20 drops of Lavender True

10 drops of Peppermint

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until light and fluffy. Transfer to a container and store in the fridge. So easy and satisfying. If you are going to buy oils for these recipes, look for cold pressed oils.  Hot pressed carrier oils hold very little therapeutic value which is partly why they are usually a lot cheaper.

Here’s why I love this combination so much in the summer.

Sweet almond oil calms inflamed and itchy skin connected to the effects of sunburn. The saturated fats and antibacterial properties in Coconut help heal and keep moisture locked into the skin. Jojoba oil is also great for soothing and calming red, itchy skin that has been inflamed from the sun. It’s also more of a liquid wax than an oil, making it perfect to bind the ingredients together.

The Aloe vera gel also has anti-inflammatory properties. It aids healing by forming a protective layer over burned, peeling skin. Cooling it while hydrating the skin by locking moisture within it.

Lavender True promotes cell growth and so provides rapid healing for scares and and stretch marks. It’s antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, making it great for insect bites, stings, burns, sunburn, wounds, dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema. Its also famous for it’s relaxing properties.

Peppermint is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it narrows the blood vessels, reducing blood flow - and the redness it causes - inflammation and itching. It has a cooling effect on sun burn, relieving pain, while also being an antiseptic.

Your skin really does feel amazing after applying this cream and it’s so easy to make. To learn more about the oils and buy your Peppermint and Lavender True Essential oils go to www.gracewithin.net
